Your Wedding Plan

How wonderful – you have just become engaged to be married.  Many Congratulations.  Now you are so excited about planning for your future with your finance, and of being a happily married couple with hopes and dreams for a happy future together.

What is now uppermost in your mind is to plan your very special and unique wedding day.  The day you both take your wedding vows that declare your love and commitment to each other in the presence of your family and friends.

To achieve a wedding day of your dreams will take time and detailed planning. The first thing to do is decide on your budget for the wedding day. Together you should work out how much you can afford to pay for the wedding, how much you have now and how much more you need to save before the event.   That way you will be able to work out a realistic budget. When deciding on a budget, it is wise to put another 10%-15% into a contingency fund to use as a back up in the event the budget is exceeded.  This could happen if costs of the essential items prove more expensive than originally planned.

Next choose your wedding date then the venue for the marriage.  Will it be a traditional church wedding or a civil marriage at a non-religious venue?   The popular venues are booked up many months in advance, so you will need to make an early decision.

To start the planning process you should make a list of the essential items: venue, bridal wear (bride’s and bridesmaids’ dresses/or flower girls), groom, best man and ushers suits, wedding rings, wedding cars, flowers and, of course, the honeymoon, photographs/video and stationery.

Lists are essential because they will help you to keep track of what you have done, ordered and deposits paid and when the balance payment is due; at the same time, keeping a record of all costs.  Also, it will help provide a reminder of what needs to be done and when to take action to follow up progress

Planning a wedding is like managing an important project; there is a lot to do and organise.  So, rather than you try to do everything yourself, enlist the help of a member of the family or a close friend.  They can help you by doing the time consuming research for venues, flowers, photography, wedding car companies, etc, to find out who will give you the best quality service and value for their fee.

It is with meticulous and detailed planning that will ensure you have a very special wedding day to celebrate with your family and friends.

Congratulations and best wishes from Prestige Wedding Planning.   Enjoy planning your very special day.
